Without a doubt kale is one of my favorite ornamental edible vegetables. Did you know it makes a great fall container refresher? When you have a few plants die out in your container garden, simply replace the dead plants with kale seed or a kale plant for a super solution to “empty hole syndrome”.

Any kale will do, but I prefer Lacinto Kale and Ornamental Kale. Another favorite is Kale Dwarf Blue Curled as this variety adds a true blue accent to a mixed container.

Growing kale in a container is very easy; add a bit of The Arbor Gate Leaf Mold Compost for a kick to help growth, then plant and water regularly. BOOM!! Container designs stretch all the way until winter and you have a little more beauty to enjoy in the fall.
