One of the best features of Anamese pots is that they’re frost-proof. Superior clays, repeated extrusions, and prolonged firing at the proper temperatures give Anamese vessels a durability often lacking in fine pottery.

Mining the Best Clay
Mineral-rich black clay, known for its superior strength, is collected from Vietnamese riverbeds by our artisans. They mix this top-shelf material with several other high-quality clays in vats, until it’s well-combined.

The Key to Frost-Proofing
Once our artisans have achieved the perfect texture and consistency, they extrude the clay many times to eliminate pore spaces. This is key to creating frost-proof vessels. Porous pots may fill with water, which freezes and expands in cold weather, causing cracks. All you need to do is keep our pots drained, and they will easily stand up to winter.

The Proof Is in the Firing
Our pots are hand-formed in their molds and glazed by our artisans. Baking is done in wood-fired kilns at 1,400 degrees Centigrade for two weeks.

Firing at this high heat for a prolonged period fuses the clay and the glaze together. When cooled, they become one strong surface, not two separate, thinner ones, as in other manufacturers’ pots.
