Much of the visible tree damage resulting from Hurricane Harvey has been cleared from our area, but the full impact on trees and shrubs will likely not be seen until we enter spring.

Extensive flooding has resulted in excessive water in root systems. This causes decay, which serves as an entry point for pests and disease. As a result, you can expect more infestations and greater than normal levels of damage in trees weakened by the storm. With this in mind, I recommend an inspection now to:
• Check for decay, root, and structural issues
• Identify and manage over-wintering pest populations
• Take a soil sample to check soil nutrient levels
