Tyler, Texas — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Smith County will continue its 2017 East Texas Garden Lecture Series at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 8 at Blue Moon Gardens, in Edom, Texas. Co-owner Mary Wilhite will present “From Garden to Vase.”
Mary wants gardeners to bring the beauty and fragrance of their gardens indoors with flower arrangements. She says growing your own cut flowers is easy with the right conditions and will share which flowers offer the longest lasting and most fragrant bouquets. In addition to how to grow them, Mary will provide tips on cutting and conditioning flowers so that the will last longer.
After the talk, guided tours of the garden will be provided for anyone interested. Participants can then continue down the road to Edom to enjoy their annual street fair, April in Edom. Registration for the lecture begins at 8:30 a.m. with the program beginning at 9 a.m. at Blue Moon Gardens. Tickets are $15 per person and may be purchased at the door or in advance at the Smith County AgriLife Extension office (Cotton Belt Building), 1517 W. Front St. Suite 116 in Tyler.
The lecture series is a collaborative effort between the Smith County AgriLife Extension Environmental Education Horticulture Committee, the Smith County Master Gardeners, and the city of Tyler water department.
