If you love to cook and grow organic roses, this is one program that you will not want to miss!  We are fortunate to have The Arbor Gate’s Resident Chef Chris Crowder teach us how to prepare Rose and Pineapple Salsa paired with Rose Chicken Sausage.

Chef Chris has been affiliated with The Arbor Gate for over ten years. He and his grandmother are members of the Choctaw Nation and have explored using roses and other edible flowers as food.

In 2012, the Herb Society of America named the rose their herb of the year.  Chef Chris was featured in the 2012 American Rose Annual with twelve of his recipes which included rose infused beverages, desserts, and the two recipes he is sharing with us on June 13th.  Besides teaching classes at The Arbor Gate and The Herbal Forum at Round Top, Chef Chris has been featured on KTRH 740 AM “GardenLine” and KSEV 700 AM “The Livable Garden” radio program.

Chef Chris only uses organic grown roses and edible flowers in his recipes.  He believes edible flowers should either add an aroma or flavor to the recipe.  If not, they are excluded.

Consulting Rosarians who attend this meeting will receive one hour of continuing education credit. CRs will be required to sign a registration form at the meeting or email [email protected] prior to the meeting with their name, email address, and name of your rose society if outside HRS in order to receive credit.

Please join us on Thursday, June 13th at 7 pm at St. Andrews Episcopal Church located at 1819 Heights Blvd., Houston, TX.
